Who’s better for America, Anne Romney or Sandra Fluke?  If we want to grow and prosper, which of these now, high profile, women would serve as the best female role model for our nation moving forward?   They’ve both gotten lots of attention in recent weeks so we’ve learned a great deal about each.

Sandra became an instant media star when she spoke before a group of Democrats in Congress. She told of the hardships faced when she was forced to pay for contraception at Georgetown University.  Ms. Fluke, pleased a new healthcare law would force the Jesuit school to pay for her birth control, became distressed when religious institutions, led by the Catholic Church, saw such a mandate as a threat to freedom of religion.  Sandra, led by her sister Democrats, talked of the issue in terms of women’s health.

Anne Romney has learned a great deal about the nature of women’s health over the last 14 years.  She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1998, and breast cancer in 2008.  A lumpectomy removed the carcinoma.  MS remains an ongoing, daily battle.  In speaking to Neil Cavuto she said “The…disease has been a wonderful teacher.  And, with that comes an ability for compassion for others that are suffering.”  She mentioned her illnesses have given her an opportunity include people who have been stricken by cancer and MS into her “family”.

Sandra Fluke is a 30 year old, 3rd year law student.  She recently became engaged to her long time boyfriend.  He is Adam Mutterperl, a comedy writer and son of a big time Democrat donor.  The couple spent, by all their accounts and pictures, a wonderful, pre-engagement, vacation in Spain last year, presumably on Adam’s dime.   Sandra attended Cornell University from 1999-2003, and graduated with a B.S. (yup) in Policy Analysis & Management; Feminist, Gender, & Sexuality Studies.  She began her stint at Georgetown, (J.D., Public Interest Law Scholar),  in 2009 and expects to graduate in 2012.  Fluke has been active on both campuses.  She’s been involved in:  Students Acting for Gender Equality;  Take Back the Night; Sexual Assault and Violence Educators;  The Vagina Monologues /V- College Campaign;  Law Students for Reproductive Justice;  Georgetown Human Rights Action;  Amnesty International;  Georgetown Democrats

Mrs. Romney is 63 years old.  She’s been married for 43 years.
